Job summary

Machina Cognita Technologies is seeking a Software Engineer - Android to join our team in Lafayette, IN. You will design, develop, and maintain native Android apps while collaborating with product managers and engineers to turn client needs into innovative solutions.

The role requires 1–5 years of software development experience, strong Java/Kotlin skills, and familiarity with mobile databases and containerization. Onsite work with travel to client sites up to 25% is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS/Engineering/Physics or related field.
• 1–5 years of professional software development experience.
• Proficient in Java and Kotlin.
• Proficient with mobile databases such as ObjectBox/SQLite.
• Proficient with version control systems.
• Experience with relational databases and distributed storage.
• Experience with containerization (Docker/Kubernetes).

Responsibilities

• Build native Android applications end-to-end.
• Design and contribute to system architecture and technical design discussions.
• Develop and maintain APIs, integrations, and backend services.
• Monitor performance and resolve issues to improve reliability.
• Collaborate with product managers and engineers to translate client needs into solutions.
• Travel to client destinations to support delivery and optimization.
