Job summary

Google's Cambridge-based Pixel Rapid Prototyping team is seeking a Software Engineer to create high-fidelity prototypes for next-generation Pixel experiences. You will translate ambitious ideas into working Android-based demos, exploring new hardware and software concepts with speed and curiosity.

You will collaborate with UX, Product, and Hardware leads to push the art of the possible, prioritizing rapid iteration over production readiness, while advancing accessibility and user-centered design.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 2 years of Android app development experience.
• 2 years of Java or Kotlin programming experience.
• 1 year experience with rapid prototyping for new products.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and iterate on high-fidelity Android apps and system-level modifications for new user experiences.
• Experiment with on-device ML models, sensor APIs, and hardware features to push Pixel capabilities.
• Identify and bypass technical roadblocks to demonstrate 'art of the possible' demos.
• Adapt quickly to changing requirements based on UX research and discovery.
