Job summary

Google is seeking software engineers to join the Pixel Rapid Prototyping team in Cambridge. You will design and build high-fidelity Android prototypes, exploring new hardware and software concepts to demonstrate the art of the possible.

You will work with UX, Product, and Hardware partners to translate ambitious ideas into tangible software, prioritizing rapid iteration and exploration over production readiness.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 2 years of Android app development experience.
• 2 years of software development in Java or Kotlin.
• 1 year of rapid prototyping for new products.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and iterate on high-fidelity Android apps and system-level modifications for new experiences.
• Experiment with on-device ML models, sensor APIs, and unreleased hardware features.
• Identify and bypass technical roadblocks; optimize for speed and demonstrations.
• Pivot approaches based on daily learnings, UX feedback, and discovery.
