Job summary

HP is seeking an Android Technical Program Manager to lead the delivery and lifecycle management of Android OS across its retail and industrial platforms.

You will serve as the technical liaison between HP, Android OS vendors, Google, and internal teams. Responsibilities include managing end-to-end release, certifications, image delivery, and field deployments, driving quality and timely product delivery across multiple programs.

Qualifications

  • Four-year or graduate degree in CS, Engineering, Business Administration or related field.
  • Typically 7–10 years in engineering development, project planning tools, or people management.
  • Experience leading cross-functional programs and coordinating multiple teams.

Responsibilities

  • Lead cross-functional program to drive engineering development and implementation of a product or service.
  • Coordinate logistics of parts for builds and prototypes across projects.
  • Develop schedules, milestones, budgets, and resource plans for the program.
  • Monitor progress and adjust schedules to meet product requirements and development timelines.
  • Ensure compliance, maintenance, and safety for equipment.
  • Communicate progress, escalations, and issues to stakeholders; propose changes to resolve issues.
  • Mentor less-experienced staff and promote best practices.

Job Summary

The Android Technical Program Manager is responsible for leading the delivery, and lifecycle management of Android OS across HP's growing portfolio of retail and industrial solutions platforms. This role serves as both a technical leader and the program manager driving OS delivery, acting as the primary technical liaison between HP, Android OS vendors, Google, and cross-functional teams including Engineering, Product Management, Factory, Sales, and Support. Key responsibilities include managing the end-to-end Android release process, overseeing certifications and image delivery, coordinating factory and field deployments, and driving resolution of customer and support issues. The role requires Android, Linux, and software release expertise, strong program management skills, and the ability to influence product direction while ensuring high-quality delivery across multiple platforms and customer programs.

Responsibilities
  • Manages and leads a program involving multiple functions and project teams to drive the engineering development and implementation process for a product or service offering.
  • Oversees logistics of parts for builds and prototypes and works on multiple projects, simultaneously.
  • Develops and directs development of schedules, critical deliverables, budget, resource allocation plan, and other support requirements for assigned program.
  • Manages activities of supporting project teams and internal development partners; ensures progress against established plan and makes determinations based on analysis of business information to alter or update schedule and resource allocation to meet product requirements and development schedule.
  • Manages program to ensure procedural compliance, maintenance, and safety practices are followed for new and existing equipment.
  • Communicates program progress, escalations, and issue analysis to product stakeholders; collaborates with management and internal manufacturing and development partners to recommend and implement changes to product, processes, or business practices to resolve escalated issues, produce solutions, and ensure adherence to budgets and established product roadmaps and schedules.
  • Follows up on open points/actions that were observed during trials; ensures conveyed as actionable items.
  • Drives innovation and integration of new technologies and quality initiatives into projects and activities in the manufacturing and/or engineering organization.
  • Drives best practices through documentation control policies and procedures.
  • Leads and provides guidance and mentoring to less-experienced staff members.
Education & Experience
  • Four-year or Graduate Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business Administration, or any other related discipline or commensurate work experience or demonstrated competence.
  • Typically has 7-10 years of work experience, preferably in engineering development and implementation, project planning tools and software packages, people management, or a related field.

The pay range for this role is $116,150 to $182,400 USD annually with additional opportunities for pay in the form of bonus and/or equity (applies to United States of America candidates only). Pay varies by work location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
