Job summary

Flyby Robotics in Los Angeles, CA is seeking a skilled Android engineer to contribute to Aviator, the ground control app powering our drone platform.

You will design features in Kotlin, apply modern Android patterns, and integrate with REST and gRPC backends for authentication and data sync. The role emphasizes robust testing (JUnit, Espresso) and solid code quality, with 2+ years of Android/Kotlin experience and eligibility to work in the US.

Qualifications

• 2+ years Android development with Kotlin.
• Experience with Flow/StateFlow and Coroutines.
• Experience with Hilt DI and writing tests.
• US Citizen or Permanent Resident; able to relocate to LA.

Responsibilities

• Design and build app features using Kotlin and modern Android practices (Coroutines/Flow, DI, etc.).
• Integrate with backend APIs (REST, gRPC) for authentication, data synchronization, and user management.
• Write robust logs for app reliability and traceability.
• Develop automated unit and UI tests using JUnit, MockK/Mockito, and Espresso/Compose Testing to verify UI, ViewModels, repositories, user interactions, and end-to-end workflows.
• Contribute to overall software goals and current Flyby Robotics requirements.
