Job summary

Pentangle Tech Services | P5 Group seeks an experienced Android AOSP software engineer to advance embedded platform development for automotive and other embedded devices in Oregon. You will contribute across the stack, from kernel interfaces to system services, driving platform quality and performance.

You will work with C/C++, Java/Kotlin, Linux, and Python, developing HALs, Binder/AIDL, and interfaces, while collaborating with hardware teams and vendors.

Qualifications

  • Strong experience with Android AOSP/platform development.
  • Proficient in C/C++ and Java/Kotlin.
  • Solid Linux, Git, Python, shell scripting, and Android build systems knowledge.
  • Experience with Android Framework, Native, HAL, Binder/AIDL, and system services.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and debug Android AOSP platform and framework software.
  • Work with Android native layers using C/C++, Java/Kotlin, Linux, and Python.
  • Develop and integrate Android HALs, system services, Binder/AIDL, and device interfaces.
  • Work with Qualcomm Snapdragon SoCs, vendor BSPs, and embedded hardware.
  • Debug and optimize performance, memory, graphics, display, multimedia, power, and thermal issues.
  • Work with SurfaceFlinger, WindowManager, DisplayManager, Hardware Composer, Gralloc, MediaCodec/Codec2, and Audio HAL.
  • Support Android integration with QNX/Linux systems and hypervisors in multi-VM environments.
  • Work with VirtIO, IPC, virtualization, and system-level communication.
  • Analyze crashes, ANRs, logs, metrics, and system performance.
  • Support CTS/VTS, SELinux, secure boot, DRM/Widevine, and Android security.
  • Collaborate with hardware teams, product teams, vendors, and distributed engineering teams.

Job description

Required Skills

  • Strong C/C++ and Java/Kotlin programming skills.
  • Strong Linux, Git, Python, shell scripting, and Android build systems experience.
  • Experience with Android Framework, Native, HAL, Binder/AIDL, and system services.
  • Experience with Qualcomm Snapdragon platforms and Android BSPs.
  • Experience with Android Automotive (AAOS) or embedded Android.
  • Experience with QNX/Linux and hypervisor-based systems.
  • Knowledge of graphics, display, multimedia, audio, power, and thermal systems.
  • Experience troubleshooting and optimizing complex embedded systems.
Preferred Skills
  • 10+ years of embedded software experience.
  • Experience with TCP/IP, HTTP/HTTPS, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi.
  • Experience with DRM/Widevine and secure media playback.
  • Experience with IFE (In-Flight Entertainment) or infotainment systems.
  • Experience with VirtIO and multi-VM architectures.
