Job summary

Qualifications

• At least 2 years of on-air or online experience as an anchor or reporter.

• Proficient video shooting and editing for multiple platforms.
• Experience with social media and digital audience engagement.
• Willingness to adopt new technologies and AI-assisted workflows.

News Anchor

KLKN-TV, the ABC affiliate in Lincoln, Nebraska, is seeking an experienced, dynamic News Anchor, who brings strong journalism, leadership, and a passion for local news to our newsroom.

The ideal candidate will be a leader who takes an active role in shaping our coverage, mentoring newsroom staff, and producing compelling content across platforms. This person should have strong editorial judgment, a collaborative approach to stories and initiatives, and a willingness to embrace innovation.

Key Responsibilities

• Anchor newscasts with engaging and conversational delivery.
• Regularly report, develop original stories, and produce compelling content for broadcast, digital, social media, and other emerging station platforms.
• Work closely with newsroom leadership to help shape daily editorial direction, identify impactful stories, and strengthen overall news coverage in newscasts and online.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to producers, MMJs, and other newsroom staff, helping improve storytelling, newsgathering, writing, and editorial decision-making.
• Take an active role in newscast planning, newsgathering, story development, and breaking news coverage.
• Embrace AI-assisted workflows and emerging technologies that expand content capabilities and improve workflows, while maintaining the station's standards for accuracy and editorial oversight.
• Attend community events and collaborate with other departments on special projects.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements & Qualifications

• At least 2 years of on-air or online experience as an anchor or reporter.
• Strong on-air presence, conversational delivery, and live reporting skills.
• Excellent writing, storytelling, and editorial judgment.
• Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to mentor and support newsroom colleagues.
• Strong video shooting, editing, and digital content creation skills.
• Experience with social media and an understanding of digital audience engagement.
• Willingness to adopt new technologies and AI-assisted workflows.
• Strong communication, organizational, and collaboration skills.
• Valid driver's license and clear driving record.
