Job Description Summary: Serves as a Pathologist extender for the Department of Pathology. Is responsible for case accessioning; gross description and sampling of small uncomplicated tissue specimens; evisceration of autopsies; preparation and collection of tissue for special studies; cutting, staining, and cover slipping of frozen section tissue; maintaining supplies of gross room/morgue; disposal of old specimens; identify and resolve labeling/identification discrepancies.
Responsibilities And Duties:
Minimum Qualifications: High School or GED (Required) HT - Histotechnician Registered - American Society for Clinical Pathology
Additional Job Description: HT (ASCP) Certification or five years general laboratory Experience in a position such as Technical Lab Assistant or other hospital based assistant (surgery, gen med). Highly skilled communicator and critical thinking skills. Medical terminology and Basic anatomy knowledge. Strong computer skills.
