Job summary

American Crystal Sugar Company is seeking a Plant Operator (Water Treatment) to oversee wastewater and pond water systems. You will monitor perimeters, collect samples, operate lab equipment, and perform analytical tests to ensure process integrity.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, the ability to read and communicate effectively, a valid driver’s license, and completion of required state training with licensing within 18 months. On-site work with comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Must take Mechanical Aptitude Test and Basic Skills Test.
• Must take state required training and obtain license within 18 months.
• Able to read, write and communicate effectively.
• Must have a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Monitor perimeters around wastewater treatment and pond systems.
• Inspect ponds, pumps, and set up temporary pumping stations as needed.
• Collect samples and operate laboratory equipment; perform analytical tests (solids, pH, settling).
• Maintain records and monitor water-treatment system operation (aerobic/anaerobic, flume clarifier, methane).
• Perform routine mechanical duties (change valves, gauges) to ensure maximum efficiency.
• Adjust process flow to maintain optimal operation per guidelines and safety rules.

Job Responsibilities

The Anamet Plant Operator within our factories is also known as a Water Treatment Operator and they monitor all perimeters surrounding wastewater treatment and our factory flume water/ponds systems. Principle accountabilities include but are not limited to: Responsible for pond inspections, examples: pond levels, pump inspections, setup temporary pumping stations and hoses to manage pond water. Collects samples and operates laboratory equipment, performs analytical tests – percent solids, settling, pH and other analytical tests with accuracy for monitoring wastewater processes. Performs related recordkeeping. Monitors water treatment-system operation – aerobic, anaerobic, flume clarifier and the methane system to maintain operating targets. Performs miscellaneous mechanical duties, examples: change valves, gauges, etc., as required to ensure maximum operating efficiency. Adjusts process flow to maintain efficient operation of all water systems in accordance with established guidelines and safety rules.

Job Requirements

High School diploma or a GED certificate is required. Individuals are required to take a Mechanical Aptitude Test and Basic Skills Test to verify basic skills and knowledge. Must take the state required training and obtain license within 18 months. Able to read, write and communicate effectively. Must have a valid driver’s license.

Compensation Range

$27.36 - $27.36 /hr
