Job summary

Moderna’s Analytical Technical Operations team seeks a Scientist to lead operational method development and transfer of analytical methods into robust, high-throughput laboratory execution at the Norwood, MA campus. This onsite role interfaces Analytical Development with ATO, leveraging LC/MS, HPLC/UHPLC, microfluidics, and automation to optimize workflow design and data integrity.

Qualifications

• PhD in Analytical Chemistry or related field, or Master’s/Bachelor’s with applicable industry experience.
• Experience in analytical method development, optimization, transfer, validation or pre-validation, troubleshooting, and lifecycle support.
• Hands-on LC/MS and chromatography techniques, including data interpretation and troubleshooting.
• Experience translating scientific requirements into reliable routine execution with scheduling and capacity planning.

Responsibilities

• Lead operational method development focused on robustness, throughput, and automation compatibility.
• Translate methods into scalable workflows for high-volume testing without losing scientific intent.
• Design and execute method studies for optimization, performance characterization, and transfer.
• Provide LC/MS expertise including HPLC/UHPLC and microfluidic platforms.
• Advance microfluidic methods (LabChip) to improve speed and scalability.
• Develop automation-ready workflows with liquid handlers and robotic platforms.
• Drive method transfer with acceptance criteria and training.
• Collaborate across Process Development, Quality Control, Digital, Automation, and external groups.
