Job summary

City of Grand Island seeks a Laboratory Analyst to perform chemical and other analyses for the power plant and the city’s potable water production operation, and to test and calibrate a variety of analytical laboratory equipment.

Responsibilities include collecting samples, performing tests, recording results, ensuring regulatory compliance, and training operators. Maintain equipment, prepare reagents, and assist with analytical system design as needed.

Qualifications

  • Two years of general experience involving laboratory analysis or work in a closely related field.
  • Bachelor's degree in chemistry or a related field.
  • Possession of or ability to obtain a Grade III Water Supply Operator's license within 24 months of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Perform chemical tests on plant process water and interpret results.
  • Record results and procedures; prepare reports for regulatory agencies.
  • Monitor water treatment processes and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Train operators in sampling and testing procedures; ensure standardized methods.
