Job summary

Palmer Companies, Inc. in Des Moines, IA is seeking a Lab Technician to support a new product line by developing and transferring analytical testing methods for raw materials, intermediates, and final products.

You will perform tests, analyze data, troubleshoot instruments like HPLC, GC, GC-MS, and FTIR, and ensure GMP/DEA compliance while writing technical reports. The role operates on-site from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Qualifications

• A minimum of a bachelor's degree in chemistry or a closely related field is required.
• A degree in chemistry is desired; a PhD is preferred.
• Familiarity with compliance requirements within cGMP, safety, and regulatory environments.
• Operational knowledge of analytical instrumentation, such as HPLC.
• Strong ability to solve extremely complex problems where analysis of situations or data is used.

Responsibilities

• Develop, validate, and transfer analytical testing methods for raw materials, intermediates, and final products.
• Troubleshoot technical issues operating analytical instruments (e.g., HPLC, GC, GC-MS, FTIR).
• Perform assays, write technical reports, and maintain GMP/DEA compliance.
• Support off-site testing, compound characterization, and reference material qualification.
• Set up new or existing analytical methods for compound identification, purity, and potency testing.
