Job summary

Quaker Houghton in Detroit seeks an Analytical Chemist to support ICP-OES/ICP-MS, ion chromatography, and wet chemical analysis for metal substrates and formulations. You will generate accurate data, evaluate corrosion performance, and collaborate with R&D and manufacturing to ensure product reliability.

Responsibilities include method development, data interpretation, and cross-functional support with ISO/GLP documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Materials Science, or related field.
• 2–7 years hands‑on ICP experience.
• Experience with IC, wet chemistry, and corrosion testing (SST/CCT).
• SEM/EDS expertise and sample preparation know‑how.
• Ability to interpret complex data and communicate findings clearly.
• Experience in chemical manufacturing or materials testing preferred.

Responsibilities

• ICP analysis with calibration, method optimization, and troubleshooting.
• Ion chromatography analysis to support formulation control and impurity tracking.
• Wet chemistry including titrations and gravimetric tests.
• Corrosion testing including weight loss and electrochemical methods.
• Sample preparation per SOPs (digestion, dilution, filtration, extraction).
• Interpret data to identify trends and provide conclusions.
• Develop and refine analytical/corrosion methods.
• Maintain documentation and calibration logs per ISO/GLP.
• Support R&D, manufacturing, and customer teams with insights.
• Routine maintenance and vendor coordination.
• Operate SEM/EDS and interpret images; perform maintenance.
