Job summary

Charles River Laboratories is seeking a detail-oriented Lab Support Associate to assist with essential lab tasks and data entry. Responsibilities include documenting procedures, maintaining equipment, preparing solutions, and assisting with inventory under supervision in a regulated environment.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED (an associate degree in science is preferred) and no prior experience.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree in science recommended.
• Experience: Zero years related experience.
• Certification/Licensure: None.

Responsibilities

• Efficiently perform and document all procedures, materials, and results in compliance with all regulatory standards as applicable (GLPs, protocols, analytical procedures, SOPs) with oversight.
• Demonstrate effective communication skills through informal and formal discussions with peers, management, and team.
• Perform basic to moderately complex equipment maintenance and daily routine laboratory tasks as needed (e.g. hazard waste disposal, dish washing, expired reagent checks) with oversight.
• Perform laboratory support functions such as labeling and solution preparations (e.g. buffers, media/matrices, solvent mixtures), with oversight.
• Assist with laboratory inventory management of consumables and samples. This may include filling and placing orders, shipping and archiving items, or using a LIMS system or equivalent software, with oversight.
• Document departmental, study, and non-study incidents, deviations, or notes to file as needed, with oversight.
• Actively participate in process improvement initiatives with oversight as needed.
• Participate in peer-to-peer meetings.
• Assist with maintenance of lab hygiene with oversight.
• Develop critical thinking, troubleshooting and time management skills aligned with needs of the operational area.
• Develop skills with fridge and freezer inventory management (LIMS or other equivalent system) with oversight.
• Perform all other related duties as assigned.
