Responsibilities

Team Overview

Aksia’s Operational Due Diligence ("ODD") team is based across the United States, Europe, and Asia. The team is cross-trained across alternative asset classes and evaluates the operational and business risks that may affect alternative investment managers and funds.

ODD combines investigative research and professional judgment to help institutional investors understand how a manager operates, identify areas that warrant further consideration, and make informed investment decisions.

Position Overview

Aksia is seeking an Analyst to join our ODD team in our San Diego office. Analysts participate in meetings with investment managers and key operational professionals, engage with third‑party service providers, review and analyze relevant documentation, and work with senior colleagues to assess potential operational and business risks. These findings are summarized in written reports which are presented to our clients to support investment decisions across their portfolios.

Through structured training and on‑the‑job experience, Analysts develop the ability to ask thoughtful questions, evaluate information critically, and communicate conclusions clearly. Over time, Analysts grow to become subject matter experts across the spectrum of alternative investment strategies.

• Conduct detailed reviews of relevant materials, including offering memoranda, audited financial statements, compliance materials, and other manager documentation.
• Identify potential operational and business risks, including matters relating to fraud indicators, conflicts of interest, control environments, and back‑office sufficiency.
• Draft clear, well‑supported research reports that summarize findings, relevant considerations, and potential mitigants.
• Collaborate with ODD team members and other internal teams to discuss findings, resolve open questions, and support consistent, high‑quality work product.
• Communicate research findings to clients in a clear and professional manner.

Qualifications

• 1 to 3 years of relevant experience preferred, including experience in accounting, audit, asset management, fund administration, operations, compliance, legal, internal audit, or risk
• Strong academic record; cumulative GPA of 3.5 and above is preferred
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to summarize complex information clearly and objectively
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word and Excel
• Strong analytical and critical‑thinking skills, with the ability to identify inconsistencies, ask probing questions, and exercise sound judgment
• Exceptional organization and attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
• Professional maturity and comfort interacting with senior professionals in a client‑facing environment
• Strong work ethic and initiative
• Commitment to providing high‑quality client service and supporting the team as a whole

The estimated base salary range for this position is $70,000 - $80,000 which is specific to California and may change in the future. Aksia pays a total compensation package which includes a base salary, discretionary performance bonus, and a comprehensive benefits package.
