Analyst, Management Strategy New York, NY
About the Position

The Office of the Chief Strategist sits at the intersection of macro research, market strategy, and investor insights. Reporting to the Chief Strategist, the candidate will conduct research on macroeconomic trends, market dynamics, and cross-asset opportunities that inform senior leadership's view of the investment landscape. The ideal candidate possesses strong analytical abilities, is intellectually curious, an excellent writer, and comfortable operating with a high degree of independence on open-ended research questions. This role offers broad exposure to senior investment teams and a firm‑wide view across Fortress's credit and real estate businesses.

Responsibilities
Research & Analysis

Conduct directed and independent research on macroeconomic trends, market dynamics, and sector‑specific themes relevant to Fortress's investment strategies. Analyze economic indicators, monetary policy developments, and geopolitical events to assess implications for the firm's portfolios. Develop and maintain frameworks and models to track key market and economic variables over time.

Data & Market Intelligence

Collect, organize, and maintain economic and market data from a range of internal and external sources. Build and update dashboards and trackers that synthesize market data for senior management. Monitor news flow, third‑party research, and market commentary relevant to the firm's strategic priorities.

Writing & Publications

Write and edit white papers, internal memos, and other publications on market and economic topics for distribution to senior leadership and investment teams. Translate complex research findings into clear, concise, and actionable written materials. Support the editorial process for recurring internal publications, including fact‑checking and formatting.

Internal Network & Deal Flow Intelligence

Build relationships across Fortress's investment and asset management teams to stay informed on deal flow, opportunity sets, and emerging market risks. Synthesize insights gathered from internal conversations into research output and briefing materials for the Chief Strategist's team. Represent the Office of the Chief Strategist in internal meetings and working groups, as needed.

Additional Support

Leverage AI‑enabled tools to accelerate research, synthesize data, and support the production of internal publications. Assist with ad hoc projects and analysis as directed by the Chief Strategist's team. Support the preparation of presentations and materials for internal and external audiences.

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree with course work in Economics, Finance, Mathematics, Science, Public Policy, or a related field; candidates with strong quantitative or research training from other disciplines will also be considered.
  • 0-3 years of relevant experience in investment research, economic or policy research, or a related analytical field.
Additional Skills
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint; familiarity with data visualization tools is a plus.
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills, with the ability to distill complex ideas into clear, well‑organized prose.
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills, including comfort working with economic and market data sets.
  • Highly intellectually curious, with a genuine interest in macroeconomics, markets, and the investment landscape.
  • Comfortable operating with a high degree of independence and navigating ambiguous, open‑ended research questions.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the discretion required to build relationships and gather insights across the firm.
  • Highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple research threads and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Strong critical thinking skills.
  • Demonstrated ownership mindset with a proactive approach to delivering high‑quality work and a strong work ethic.
  • Familiarity with Bloomberg, Pitch Book, FactSet, and other financial and market data platforms is a plus.
Compensation

The base salary range for this position is expected to be between $80,000 and $100,000. The base salary range proposed for this role has been set forth to comply with local law, but salary is only one element of the total compensation for this role. The base salary range suggested above does not include compensation elements such as bonuses, overtime and deferred cash (each of which are applicable in certain roles), benefits, perquisites, and company contributions to employee 401(k) accounts. Such other pay components often result in total compensation materially exceeding base salary for a particular role. Total compensation as well as base salary for a role depend in part upon individual performance, years of service, experience, geographic considerations, the performance and the needs of particular business units, company performance, and general market conditions.
