Job summary

Pilot Company is seeking a Safety & Risk Management professional to support safety, business continuity, and security across the network. The role focuses on analyzing incidents, improving safety programs, and coordinating emergency preparedness with leadership and frontline teams.

Responsibilities include training, regulatory compliance, and ongoing safety communications. This full-time position requires travel and occasional off-hours work to monitor incidents and ensure readiness.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree preferred in emergency management, safety, risk, or business continuity, or 4 years of customer-facing experience.
  • BCP Certification required
  • OSHA 30 Certification required
  • CSP Certification required
  • Experience with governmental/regulatory inquiries (OSHA, DoH, DoE)
  • Strong verbal and written communication

Responsibilities

  • Analyze accidents division, region and company-wide; develop plans to reduce incidents
  • Present monthly safety overview in leadership calls
  • Schedule safety trainings and weather preparedness
  • Assist in emergency preparedness planning for SSC
  • Assess daily weather threats and communicate to operations
  • Maintain emergency response and business continuity plans
  • Develop knowledge of regulatory requirements and keep materials current
  • Investigate governmental citations and inquiries
  • Create weekly/monthly safety messages and best practices
  • Prepare and distribute safety performance scorecards
  • Schedule meetings and drive corrective action discussions
  • Review state safety programs for currency and relevance
  • Evaluate safety equipment; recommend purchases
  • Evaluate services/software to streamline safety and continuity
  • Review internal safety audits; ensure compliance
  • Model behaviors; support guests and team members
  • Complete other duties as assigned

Job Description

The purpose of this job is to support the Risk Management company-wide; Safety, Business Continuity & Security Department by promoting safety awareness, disaster mitigation / planning / testing and compliance for the company.

1. Perform division, region, and company-wide analysis of corporate and retail location related accidents and identify trends; develop action plans to reduce incident rates and format safety programs

2. Participate in monthly division leadership conference calls to present monthly safety overview and review incident trends

3. Schedule training classes related to safety, safety awareness, and weather preparedness

4. Assist in the execution and coordination of emergency preparedness plan for the Sales and Support Center (SSC) as related to the company's first-responders

5. Assess daily weather status and identify viable threats; communicate threats to the company's operations management and assist in emergency calls' tracking/follow up/reporting

6. Maintain the company's emergency response / communication plan and assist in the development of a company business continuity program

7. Develop calendar and knowledge base of State / Country regulatory requirements. Maintain/post current materials timely

8. Investigate and formulate responses to governmental citations or inquiries

9. Develop weekly/monthly safety message for Operations including safety awareness, current incident reports, and industry best practices

10. Prepare and distribute retail safety performance scorecards

11. Schedule mtgs, develop agenda, and facilitate discussion regarding incidents and corrective actions

12. Evaluate individual required state safety programs; ensure programs are current and relevant

13. Evaluate safety equipment performance and provide recommendation to management for purchase; ensure new equipment is posted in VW

14. Evaluate and recommend services / software to streamline safety & business continuity

15. Review internal safety audits; communicate concerns and recommend solutions for compliance. Ensure compliance with rules, regulations, policies, and procedures

16. Model behaviors that support the company's common purpose; ensure guests and team members are supported at the highest level

17. Complete other duties as assigned

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree preferred, emergency management / safety / risk / business continuity field of study preferred, or a minimum of four years' experience in a customer facing position
  • BCP Certification (required)
  • OSHA 30 Certification (required)
  • CSP Certification (or similar safety cert required)
  • Knowledge and experience with governmental / regulatory agency inquiries and investigations (OSHA, DoH, DoE, etc)
  • Maintain membership/certification in professional emergency management organization offering continuing education
  • Working knowledge of WC/GL claims processes and insurance
  • Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to communicate with a wide variety of customers, levels of management and varying agencies
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and critical thinking skills
  • Strong investigative, data mining and report writing skills
  • Highly organized with attention to detail
  • Ability to take initiative; work independently as well as on a team
  • Travel required less than 15%
  • General office work requiring sitting or standing for long periods of time
  • Will require infrequent work during off hours (weekends, nights, holidays) to properly track emergencies
