Job summary

SGS North America Inc. in New Jersey is seeking a laboratory assistant to conduct routine analytical studies under supervision, following official methods and SOPs. You will assist with sample preparation, reporting, and instrument maintenance in a regulated lab.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's in Chemistry or related science, has 0–2 years of relevant experience in Analytical Chemistry, and is comfortable with wet chemistry techniques such as XRD, ICP, and titration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry or related Science discipline.
• 0-2 years of years' relevant experience in Analytical Chemistry Laboratories.
• Experience in wet chemistry techniques including Particle size analysis, XRD analysis, ICP analysis, titration assays.

Responsibilities

• Under supervision, conducts routine analytical studies of samples, preparation, extraction, and digestion following SOPs.
• Assists in preparing and filing reports on client sample tests and calibration projects.
• Performs routine operation, maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of laboratory instruments.
• Assists in developing analytical methods and SOPs for method development and validation.
• Assists with investigations and responses to client inquiries.
• Inputs and maintains technical information to support lab operations.
• Maintains Laboratory Notebook.
• Adheres to internal standards and procedures.

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry or related Science discipline

Job Description

• Under direct supervision conducts routine analytical studies of samples, preparation, extraction, and digestion with and without the use of instrumentation following official methods and laboratory Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and protocols.
• Assists in preparation, submission and filing reports on client sample tests, correlation tests, calibration, validation and other projects.
• Performs routine operation, maintenance, calibration, and trouble-shoots laboratory instruments / equipment.
• May assist / gets exposure to development of the analytical methods, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and other operating, safety and quality documents for method development, transfer, and validation studies.
• Assists with investigation, and preparation of responses to client inquiries.
• Inputs and maintains technical information as needed to support the laboratory functions/operations.
• Maintains Laboratory Notebook.
• Adheres to internal standards, policies and procedures.
