Job summary

California Department of State Hospitals - Atascadero seeks an Analyst I for Forensic Services to support the evaluation process and manage case documentation under supervision. The role focuses on monitoring referrals, preparing case records, and ensuring timely access to necessary materials for evaluators.

You will also coordinate with Legal and management to balance workload, engage contract evaluators, and assist with DOJ reporting and billing processes.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and track forensic referrals as they are submitted to the Forensic Services Department.
• Review case records to determine which records evaluators will require to complete assigned evaluation and provide documents expeditiously.
• Assess civil service workload in collaboration with Legal desks and management to ensure equitable distribution of assignments and to appropriately utilize contract evaluators.
• Learn, understand, retain, and recall a broad range of highly technical data and apply it to individual cases.
• Process monthly invoices in accordance with department practices to ensure correct billing amounts including validation of billings submitted by contract evaluators.
• Maintain an accurate detailed database for tracking and reporting to the DOJ for SARATSO.
• Employ office organizational skills to assist with departmental duties.

Job Description And Duties

The Analyst I will be directed by the Senior Psychologist Supervisor in Forensic Services at the Department of State Hospitals - Atascadero (ASH). The incumbent will be responsible for the following duties but not limited to:

• Monitor and track forensic referrals as they are submitted to the Forensic Services Department, as well as any referrals submitted for evaluation coverage
• Review case records to determine which records evaluators will require to complete assigned evaluation and provide said documents expeditiously. Assess civil service workload in collaboration with Legal desks and management to ensure equitable distribution of assignments and to appropriately utilize contract evaluators in accordance with policy
• Assess civil service workload in collaboration with Legal desks and management to ensure equitable distribution of assignments and to appropriately utilize contract evaluators in accordance with policy
• Learn, understand, retain, and recall a broad range of highly technical data and apply it to individual cases
• Process monthly invoices in accordance with department practices to ensure correct billing amounts including validation of billings submitted by contract evaluators and process through DSH-A Accounting
• Maintain an accurate detailed database for tracking and reporting to the Department of Justice (DOJ) for the State Authorized Risk Assessment Tool for Sex Offenders (SARATSO)
• Employ office organizational skills to assist with departmental duties
