Job description

Investment Banking Analyst – Healthcare Services M&A

Location: Minneapolis, MN (In-Office)

Ziegler is a leading, privately held investment bank focused exclusively on the healthcare industry. For more than a century, Ziegler has advised healthcare organizations on strategic transactions, capital raising, and growth initiatives.

Ziegler’s Healthcare Investment Banking practice is one of the most active advisory platforms in the sector, providing innovative sell-side, buy-side, recapitalization, restructuring, private placement, and strategic advisory services to healthcare companies and investors.

Business Unit

Ziegler’s Healthcare M&A Investment Banking Practice ("HIBP") advises healthcare services companies, healthcare providers, and physician groups on mergers, acquisitions, and capital formation strategies.

Ziegler’s HIBP Minneapolis Office is a specialized group of approximately 8 bankers dedicated to advising home‑based care providers, managed care organizations, and outsourced healthcare service providers. Over the past 15 years, the team has completed more than 80 M&A transactions, making it one of the most active investment banks within these spaces.

The team operates with a highly collaborative and flat structure, allowing analysts to work directly with senior bankers and clients throughout the transaction process.

Unlike larger investment banks where responsibilities are often highly segmented, analysts at Ziegler are fully integrated into deal teams and play an active role across all phases of transaction execution and business development.

Analysts work directly with Managing Directors, Vice Presidents, and Associates and have the unique opportunity to engage with clients, investors, and buyers early in their careers. The role offers meaningful exposure to live transactions and provides strong mentorship and training within a collaborative team environment.

This position is ideal for candidates seeking hands‑on experience, significant responsibility, and direct client interaction within a leading healthcare‑focused investment banking platform.

Candidates should be located in, or willing to relocate to, the Minneapolis, MN area.

Key Responsibilities
  • Building detailed financial models and valuation analyses to support live transactions and client engagements
  • Preparing transaction materials including Confidential Information Memorandums (CIMs), management presentations, and buyer outreach materials
  • Supporting all phases of M&A transactions, including marketing, diligence coordination, and closing processes
  • Managing and organizing virtual data rooms and diligence materials for active transactions
  • Conducting industry research, market analysis, and strategic positioning work for healthcare clients
  • Assisting with the preparation of client presentations and new business development materials
  • Supporting outreach and market coverage efforts, including identifying and engaging prospective clients and buyers
  • Participating in client meetings, buyer calls, and investor discussions, gaining direct exposure to transaction processes and strategic decision‑making
Professional Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Mathematics, or another analytical discipline
  • Prior experience through internships or full‑time roles in investment banking, ideally with M&A transaction exposure
  • Strong financial modeling and valuation skills, including experience with transaction analysis
  • Solid accounting knowledge and proficiency in three‑statement financial analysis
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
  • Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and problem‑solving ability
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Personal Attributes
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with senior professionals and clients
  • Exceptional organizational and time management abilities
  • A proactive, self‑starting mindset with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • A strong work ethic and the ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, transaction‑driven environment
  • Intellectual curiosity and a willingness to quickly learn new concepts and industries
  • The ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment
  • Flexibility to work extended hours and occasional travel as required in an investment banking role

Ziegler offers analysts a highly hands‑on learning environment within a collaborative and entrepreneurial team structure.

Analysts Benefit From

  • Direct client engagement and participation in transaction discussions
  • Exposure to all aspects of the M&A process from origination through closing
