Analyst/Associate (CRE Debt Brokerage) - NYC
The ideal candidate will operate at the intersection of underwriting, credit, and capital markets—working directly with senior broker, originators and lenders to structure and execute debt and preferred equity placements. This is a high-impact role designed for technically rigorous candidates who want front-line exposure to complex deal structuring, institutional counterparties, and a high-volume transactional environment.
Hybrid schedule: 4 days in NYC office
Responsibilities:
- Build Excel models [sometimes from scratch]: cash flows, waterfalls, debt sizing, sensitivity frameworks, scenario analysis, etc
- Lead institutional-grade underwriting of commercial real estate transactions, with a focus on multifamily and structured finance executions
- Produce high-quality lender materials (offering memoranda, underwriting narratives, deal books) that meet institutional standards
- Analyze borrower credit, sponsorship quality, and capital structure with a lender’s risk lens
- Structure and position transactions for execution across a wide range of capital providers (CMBS, banks, debt funds, agencies, life companies)
- Evaluate market dynamics, pricing, and liquidity trends to inform deal strategy and lender selection
Qualifications:
- Seeking 2+ years of experience within a multifamily CRE brokerage/debt placement team (underwriting, credit)
- Candidates coming from a CRE brokerage shop are highly prioritized
- Strong financial analysis, underwriting, modeling skills are absolutely key
- Advanced Excel proficiency is a must — need someone who can build complex models quickly and accurately without templates
- Strong familiarity with multifamily CRE debt products (agency, bridge, balance sheet, structured finance)
- Command of property-level analysis (rent rolls, T-12s, reforecasting, market comps) and borrower financials (this is the whole key)
