Johns Hopkins Technology Ventures (JHTV), the university'stechnology commercialization division, is launching the JHTVAnalyst Program, a structured two-year experiential learningopportunity designed for recent graduates interested in innovation,entrepreneurship, healthcare, science, business, law, technology,and public impact.

We are seeking an Analyst, Commercial Strategy &Operations who will contribute to high-priority strategicinitiatives while gaining broad exposure to technologycommercialization, startup formation, intellectual property,corporate engagement, venture funding, and innovation management.Through cohort-based learning, professional developmentprogramming, executive exposure, cross-functional projects, andmentorship, analysts develop the analytical, communication, andleadership skills that prepare them for graduate study or futurecareers across the innovation economy.

At the end of the two-year term, Analysts may be considered foropen positions within JHTV or the university; however, continuationof employment beyond the term is not guaranteed.

The Analyst, Commercial Strategy & Operations supportsuniversity-wide efforts to expand industry engagement, strengthenexternal partnerships, and advance commercialization opportunities.The role combines research, strategy, operations, communications,and business analysis to support leadership decision-making andorganizational growth.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities
  • Conduct qualitative and quantitative research to supportstrategic initiatives and organizational priorities.
  • Collect, organize, analyze, and synthesize information frommultiple sources to identify trends, opportunities, risks, andrecommendations.
  • Develop reports, dashboards, presentations, briefing materials,and executive summaries for operational and strategicdecision-making.
  • Support projects involving faculty, university leaders,external partners, and other stakeholders by conducting research,analysis, and developing recommendations.
  • Translate complex information into clear, actionable insightsfor diverse audiences.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlinesand maintaining a high level of accuracy and professionalism.
  • Support business process improvement initiatives and recommendenhancements to tools, systems, workflows, and reportingpractices.
  • Maintain accurate records, documentation, trackers, and projectmaterials.
  • Build productive relationships across JHTV and the broaderuniversity community.
  • Present findings and recommendations to internal stakeholdersand leadership.
  • Participate in cohort-based onboarding, professionaldevelopment programming, mentorship opportunities, andcross-functional learning experiences.
  • Contribute to a capstone project and final presentationaddressing a strategic opportunity or challenge within JHTV.
  • Support special projects and other duties as assigned.

In addition to duties described above

  • Research the Hopkins campus landscape, peer institutions, andemerging models in commercial revenue, technology transfer, anduniversity-industry partnerships.
  • Collect, clean, and consolidate data from disparate sourcesinto usable datasets and KPI dashboards.
  • Build and maintain KPI dashboards and recurring leadershipreports, with regular updates and refinements as prioritiesevolve.
  • Identify trends, opportunities, and notable changes in data tosupport leadership reporting and decision-making.
  • Develop one-pagers, briefing memos, presentations, decks,talking points, and other materials for board meetings, deanbriefings, corporate partner conversations, and leadershipcommunications.
  • Maintain consistent formatting, branding, and quality standardsacross all materials produced by the function.
  • Provide ad hoc research, analysis, and project support forstrategic initiatives and priorities led by senior leadership.
  • Maintain organized records, trackers, reporting tools, anddocumentation supporting the team's pipeline and reportingneeds.
  • Identify opportunities to improve or streamline existing tools,templates, processes, and reporting practices.
  • Support preparation for meetings and engagements involvingcorporate partners, industry stakeholders, university leadership,and advisory groups.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
  • No prior professional experience required.
  • Additional education may substitute for required experience,and additional related experience may substitute for requirededucation beyond a high school diploma/graduation equivalent, tothe extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
Preferred Qualifications
  • U.S. Citizen or Legal Permanent Resident required due toFederal Export Controls.
  • Advanced Degree in a related field.
  • Three years of related experience.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and executive writingskills.
  • Experience conducting research and developing recommendationsfrom complex information.
  • Comfort working with data and performance metrics.
  • Interest in business development, strategic planning,consulting, higher education, or technology commercialization.
  • Ability to work effectively in ambiguous and fast-changingenvironments.
  • Full-time, in-person role based in Baltimore, MD.
  • Fast-paced environment with variable hours; not a fixed 9-to-5schedule.

During the Influenza ("the flu") season, as a condition ofemployment, The Johns Hopkins Institutions require all employeeswho provide ongoing services to patients or work in patient care orclinical care areas to have an annual influenza vaccination orpossess an approved medical or religious exception. Failure to meetthis requirement may result in termination of employment.

The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas,laboratories, working with research subjects, or involvingcommunity contact requires documentation of immune status againstRubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella(chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received theTdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination. This may includedocumentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicellavaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratorytesting. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases areordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except forthose employees who provide results of blood tests or immunizationdocumentation from their own health care providers. Anyvaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no costin our Occupational Health office.
