As one of the world’s most admired brands, Toyota is growing and leading the future of mobility through innovative, high-quality solutions designed to enhance lives and delight those we serve. We’re looking for talented team members who want to Dream. Do. Grow. with us.

Toyota does not offer support or sponsorship of job applicants for employment-based visas or any other work authorization for this role now or in the future. You must have the right to work in the United States and not require Toyota support or sponsorship for immigration‑related employment (e.g., H‑1B, O‑1, E‑3, H‑1B1, TN, F‑1 OPT, F‑1 STEM OPT, F‑1 CPT, ‘job flexibility benefits’ [also known as I‑140 or Adjustment of Status portability], etc.) now or in the future. You should not apply for this role if you will require Toyota to assist with immigration support or sponsorship now or in the future.

Who we’re looking for

Toyota’s Toyota Battery Manufacturing North Carolina (TBMNC) Department is looking for a passionate and highly‑motivated Cost Management, Financial Analyst

The primary responsibility of this role is to support Battery Manufacturing business performance through month‑end close, financial planning, cost management, forecasting, and business analysis activities across current and future battery programs. This role serves as a key financial partner to manufacturing, procurement, product planning, engineering, and leadership stakeholders by providing timely, accurate, and actionable financial insights that support decision‑making and profitability objectives.

Key responsibilities include leading month‑end closing activities; developing and managing annual budgets, forecasts, and long‑range financial plans; performing variance analysis and financial storytelling to explain business results and emerging trends; supporting product and business unit cost management initiatives; providing financial guidance for new product planning and investment decisions; partnering with procurement on supplier cost analysis and sourcing activities; and identifying opportunities to improve cost competitiveness, operational efficiency, and financial performance.

The position requires strong analytical and problem‑solving capabilities, with the ability to translate complex financial data into clear business recommendations for a wide range of customers across the organization. As TBMNC continues to evolve and expand its battery manufacturing operations, the individual must demonstrate flexibility, initiative, and a continuous improvement mindset while balancing competing priorities in a dynamic environment.

This role operates with a high degree of autonomy and accountability. While strategic direction is provided by management, the analyst is expected to independently identify issues, evaluate financial impacts, develop data‑driven recommendations, and lead cross‑functional collaboration to drive business results. Success in this role requires strong communication skills, business acumen, customer focus, and the ability to build effective partnerships across all levels of the organization.

Reporting to the Accounting & Finance Manager (If following Workday – Accounting & Finance Senior Manager), this role functions as a strategic finance partner to Manufacturing Operations and key stakeholders across TBMNC, TMC, and other North American manufacturing affiliates. The position delivers financial analysis, planning, forecasting, cost management, and performance reporting that enable informed decision‑making and support the achievement of business objectives, financial commitments, and operational KPIs.

What you’ll be doing
  • Lead month‑end, quarterly, and annual financial closing activities, including accruals, journal entries, reporting, and financial analysis to ensure accurate and timely results.

  • Develop and manage budgets, forecasts, and long‑range financial plans while performing variance analysis and communicating key business drivers, risks, and opportunities.

  • Support product and business unit cost management initiatives by monitoring cost performance, identifying improvement opportunities, and driving cost competitiveness.

  • Partner with Manufacturing, Procurement, Product Planning, Engineering, and leadership teams to provide financial guidance for operational, sourcing, investment, and new business decisions.

  • Develop standardized processes, reporting, and analytics that deliver actionable insights, improve decision‑making, and support Battery Manufacturing business performance.

What you bring
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field.

  • Experience in financial planning & analysis (FP&A), accounting, manufacturing finance, cost management, or a related business function.

  • Experience supporting month‑end close, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis processes.

  • Demonstrated ability to analyze complex financial and operational data, identify business drivers, and develop actionable recommendations for stakeholders.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools, with the ability to develop reports, models, and dashboards that support business decision‑making.

  • Strong communication and business partnering skills, including the ability to translate financial information into clear insights for manufacturing, procurement, engineering, product planning, and leadership teams.

  • Proven problem‑solving, organizational, and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.

  • Continuous improvement mindset with experience developing or enhancing processes, reporting, and financial controls.

Added bonus if you have
  • Experience in manufacturing, automotive, battery, or industrial operations finance.

  • Knowledge of product cost management, product costing, procurement analysis, capital investment evaluation, or new product planning support.

  • Experience with SAP (including BPC), Hyperion, Power BI, Tableau, Alteryx, or other ERP and business intelligence systems.

  • Experience preparing executive‑level presentations, financial storytelling, and management reporting.
