Private Equity Analyst – Second Alpha Partners
Firm Profile:

Second Alpha Partners is a private equity firm focused on secondary direct and secondary-linkedinvestments in growth companies in the private technology, media, telecommunications and tech-enabled services sectors. Second Alpha seeks to purchase equity and equity-linked positions from existing investors (“secondary directs”) and/or execute secondary-linked transactions involving synthetic secondaries, GP-led transactions (e.g., continuation vehicles), and special purpose vehicles.The firm was founded in 2012 and is based in New York.

Role Description:

Second Alpha is currently seeking to hire a private equity Analyst on an immediate time frame. The role is based in Manhattan. The Analyst will be part of the Investment Team working on prospective and ongoing investments. The Analyst will also work with senior management on a wide variety of organizational initiatives.

Second Alpha is seeking an individual with strong analytical and writing skills, who takes initiative, has great attention to detail, is tech-literate and comfortable working with AI-enabled tools and workflows, works well under pressure, and can work well both independently and within teams. The Analyst will work in a small team in a fast-paced and entrepreneurial environment and have constant interaction with the most senior members of the firm, as well as the senior management of the firm’s portfolio companies. Candidates for the position must possess knowledge of and interest in private equity and technology, as well as at least oneyear of prior relevant experience (including internships). Ideal candidates have a background in investment banking, equity research, growth equity, venture capital or similar fields.

Responsibilities will include:
  • Manage the deal sourcing process, including the identifying and tracking of prospective investments, using AI-enabled systems and tools where applicable
  • Prepare investment memos, financial models and valuations
  • Support the evaluation, structuring, negotiation and monitoring of Second Alpha’s investments, and aid in all aspects of the investing process
  • Contribute to process improvements in sourcing, evaluation, and execution of investments
  • Perform research to develop a deep understanding of technology, media, telecommunications and tech-enabled services sectors and companies to aid the firm’s investment sourcing, due diligence, and fundraising efforts
  • Prepare fundraising documents, as well as quarterly/annual investment reporting documents, and assist in updating marketing materials and other related investor relations documents, leveraging AI-enabled workflows (including Claude Cowork and similar) to improve efficiency and accuracy

The expected base salary for this role is between $120,000 and $150,000.

Qualifications:

Second Alpha seeks to hire individuals who are highly motivated, intelligent and have demonstrated excellence in prior endeavors.

  • Superior academic achievement
  • Degrees in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Math, Computer Science or similar discipline required
  • Very strong financial modeling skills, with an analytical mindset
  • Past experience in investment banking, consulting, asset management, private markets, and related industries a plus
  • Ability to build financial operating models used to represent historical and future company operations
  • Ability to develop models to analyze valuations, mergers and acquisitions, capital structure and shareholder returns, including comparable companies, precedent transactions, discounted cash flow, sum-of-the-parts and leveraged buyout analysis
  • A self-starter, but with the ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Strong work ethic; genuine passion for excellence; results-oriented
  • Interest in learning and supporting private equity deal making
  • Interest in building a long-term career in private equity and secondaries investing
  • Tech-literate, with genuine interest in using AI-enabled tools and workflows (e.g., Claude Cowork, LLM-based research and modeling tools) to work more efficiently across the investment process
  • Experience with, or openness to using AI and database tools for market research, due diligence, task automation, etc.
  • Personal and professional integrity of the highest order; able to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
  • Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint, and comfort using AI-enabled productivity tools and workflows
  • Experience with Salesforce, Tableau, Claude Cowork and other data and workflow platforms is helpful
  • United States citizenship and ability to work in Manhattan is required
