Job summary

118-WW TMG MFG OPS in Dallas, TX seeks an experienced analog/mixed-signal IC design engineer to own Class D power output stages from architecture through silicon bring-up, including gate drivers, H-bridge and BTL outputs, and protection circuits for high-volume GaN/MOSFET devices.

Collaborate with systems, layout, and applications engineers to meet THD+N, IMD, SNR and EMI goals, mentor juniors, and drive design reviews to establish standards for schematic quality and documentation.

Qualifications

  • MS in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • 5–10+ years of analog/mixed-signal IC design experience.
  • Demonstrated experience designing power output stages: gate drivers, H-bridge or BTL configurations, dead-time control, and overcurrent/thermal protection.
  • Strong understanding of high-voltage switching behavior, GaN/MOSFET/LDMOS device physics, and parasitic-aware design techniques.
  • Experience with EMI mitigation in switching amplifiers and proficiency with Cadence Virtuoso schematic/simulation environment.
  • Experience taking designs from concept through tapeout and silicon bring-up.

Responsibilities

  • Architect and design Class D power output stages (H-bridge/BTL), gate drivers, charge pumps, level shifters, dead-time control, and protection.
  • Design high-voltage switching circuits focusing on efficiency, thermal performance, and EMI compliance.
  • Develop transistor-level schematics in Cadence Virtuoso and verify performance across PVT corners using SPICE.
  • Collaborate with systems, layout, and applications engineers to meet audio performance specs (THD+N, IMD, SNR, PSRR, idle noise).
  • Analyze and resolve design issues from prototype through production qualification, including EMI/EMC characterization and LC filter optimization.
  • Contribute to IP reuse strategy and design methodology improvements.
  • Mentor junior engineers on analog design fundamentals, simulation practices, and DFM techniques.
  • Provide technical leadership: guide design reviews, drive architecture decisions, set schematic quality standards.

Job description

About the role

Design high-efficiency Class D power output stages for automotive and consumer audio amplifier products. You will own the switching power path from architecture through silicon validation, including gate drivers, H-bridge and BTL output stages, dead-time control, and protection circuits in high-volume production ICs. Products include both monolithic power stages and multi-chip module GaN based solutions.

Responsibilities
  • Architect and design Class D power output stages: H-bridge and BTL configurations, gate drivers, charge pumps, level shifters, dead-time control, and shoot-through protection
  • Design high-voltage switching circuits with focus on efficiency, thermal performance, and EMI compliance
  • Develop transistor-level schematics in Cadence Virtuoso and verify performance across PVT corners using SPICE simulation
  • Collaborate with systems, layout, and applications engineers to meet audio performance specifications (THD+N, IMD, SNR, PSRR, idle channel noise) and power delivery targets
  • Analyze and resolve design issues from prototype through production qualification, including EMI/EMC characterization and LC filter optimization
  • Contribute to IP reuse strategy and design methodology improvements
  • Mentor junior engineers on analog design fundamentals, simulation best practices, and design-for-manufacturing techniques
  • Provide technical leadership within the design team: guide design reviews, drive architecture decisions, and establish standards for schematic quality and documentation
Minimum requirements
  • MS in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent)
  • 5-10+ years of analog/mixed-signal IC design experience
  • Demonstrated experience designing power output stages: gate drivers, H-bridge or BTL output configurations, dead-time control, and overcurrent/thermal protection
  • Strong understanding of high-voltage switching behavior, GaN/MOSFET/LDMOS device physics, and parasitic-aware design techniques
  • Experience with EMI mitigation in switching amplifiers (spread-spectrum modulation, slew-rate control, edge-rate optimization)Proficiency with Cadence Virtuoso schematic/simulation environment
  • Experience taking designs from concept through tapeout and silicon bring-up
Preferred qualifications
  • Signal-chain design experience: delta-sigma ADCs, DACs, or PWM/PDM switching modulators for audio-band applications
  • Familiarity with sampled-data circuits, loop filter design, and quantizer architectures
  • Experience with automotive-qualified products (AEC-Q100)
  • Publications or patents in audio IC design or Class D amplifier techniques
Leadership qualifications
  • Ability to establish strong relationships with key stakeholders critical to success, both internally and externally
  • Ability to take ownership of everything in your world and drive solutions
  • Mentorship of Jr engineers
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to quickly ramp on new systems and processes
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work in teams and collaborate effectively with people in different functions
  • Ability to take the initiative and drive for results
  • Strong time management skills that enable on-time project delivery
