Job summary

Auburn University invites applications for a 6-12 grade Math Specialist with AMSTI to support statewide math and science teaching. This role provides professional development, classroom resources, and educator support to East Alabama schools.

You will lead and participate in professional learning for teachers and administrators, coordinate with IHEs, track progress, and help recruit AMSTI staff. The position emphasizes collaboration, impact, and service to Alabama students.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in related discipline.
• 4 years of experience designing and delivering educational programs.
• Master's degree may be required for specialized roles; certification/licensing may be required.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate and/or participate in professional learning for teachers and administrators.
• Develop and maintain standardized, pre-approved professional learning opportunities and supporting resources for AMSTI/ALSDE.
• Provide ongoing professional learning to AMSTI lead teachers, certified AMSTI facilitators, and instructional coaches.
• Assist IHEs with planning and conducting preservice and continuing education and outreach activities.
• Participate in AMSTI professional learning activities and staff meetings conducted by the ALDE and site director.
• Provide ongoing support and coaching to teachers, AMSTI lead teachers, coaches, and LEA needs.
• Assist AMSTI teachers in effectively using planning time and PLCs to improve instruction.
• Assist in recruiting new AMSTI teachers and/or facilitators.
• Research effects of current math, science, and technology practices in AMSTI classrooms as requested.
• Coordinate work through the AMSTI site director and communicate with stakeholders.
• Maintain proficiency in standards, pedagogy, and AMSTI lessons through trainings and opportunities.
• Work with general and materials managers to make site-level decisions.
• Provide feedback regarding customization of kits and resources.
• Maintain records (including financial) and complete paperwork in a timely manner using Monday.com.
• Participate in development, maintenance, and promotion of AMSTI resources per guidelines.
• Other duties as assigned.
