Job summary

Prevailance, Inc. is seeking a capable Amphib Steam Main Propulsion and Control Systems Subject Matter Expert to support CNSP via the RATT program. The role involves guiding shipboard propulsion operations, troubleshooting steam turbines, and improving readiness on Navy platforms.

The SME will work directly with shipboard teams, providing hands-on assistance and expert advice while traveling extensively to CONUS and OCONUS locations to ensure mission readiness.

Qualifications

• Minimum 15 years of supervisory-level watchstanding experience aboard warships or military auxiliaries with steam main propulsion.
• Experience as EOOW, Propulsion Plant Watch Officer, Chief Engineer, or equivalent with responsibility for propulsion plant operations and related control/auxiliary systems.
• Direct operational and maintenance experience within the last five years with U.S. Navy steam propulsion systems, steam turbine generators, control systems, and related auxiliary systems.
• Ability and willingness to support extensive CONUS and OCONUS travel for shipboard RATT visits.

Overview

The Amphib Steam Main Propulsion and Control Systems Subject Matter Expert (SME) supports Commander, Naval Surface Forces, Pacific Fleet (CNSP) as part of the Readiness Assistance Training Team (RATT). The RATT provides direct, Sailor-centric training and technical assistance to surface ships to improve technical proficiency, material condition, organic capability, and overall readiness.

The Amphib Steam Main Propulsion and Control Systems SME provides expert-level technical guidance and hands-on support for steam propulsion plants, turbine generators, control systems, and associated auxiliary equipment. Working directly with shipboard personnel, the SME helps strengthen technical knowledge, troubleshoot propulsion and supporting-system issues, improve operations and maintenance practices, and enhance overall engineering readiness.

Location

San Diego, CA, with extensive travel in support of shipboard RATT visits throughout CONUS and OCONUS locations.

Requirements

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 15 years of supervisory-level watchstanding experience aboard warships or military auxiliaries with steam main propulsion
• Experience serving as an Engineering Officer of the Watch (EOOW), Propulsion Plant Watch Officer, Chief Engineer, or equivalent position responsible for overall propulsion plant operations and associated control and auxiliary systems
• Direct operational and maintenance experience within the last five years with U.S. Navy systems including:
  • Steam turbine main propulsion systems
  • Steam turbine generators
  • Associated control systems
  • Associated auxiliary systems
• Ability and willingness to support extensive CONUS and OCONUS travel for shipboard RATT visits
