Job summary

Rydberg Technologies in Ann Arbor, MI is seeking a Physicist or Applied Physicist with a background in AMO physics to join our quantum RD&E team. You will develop quantum devices and conduct experimental research on atomic sensors and Rydberg-based technologies in a fast-paced environment.

The role emphasizes hands-on device engineering, precision instrumentation, and the ability to work autonomously as part of a dynamic team with strong project planning and documentation. PhD required.

Qualifications

Rydberg Technologies

Rydberg Technologies is seeking a dynamic Physicist or Applied Physicist with a background in AMO physics and engineering to join our quantum RD&E team in the development of next-generation quantum technologies. This is a hands‑on role responsible for the development and engineering of quantum devices, experimental research and development of atomic sensors and Rydberg atom quantum technologies, methods and devices including quantum RF sensors and transceivers. We seek high‑caliber candidates who are solution‑oriented, organized, self‑motivated, have an interest in top‑level project planning, give attention to the finest project details, and have the ability to both work autonomously and in a dynamic, fast‑paced team environment.

Required technical skills:
  • Experience conducting independent research in the areas of atom‑based quantum technologies, including atomic sensors or clocks
  • Such experience must include a subset of the following: precision spectroscopy, vapor cell technology, optomechanical and optoelectrical systems engineering, frequency‑stable lasers, ultra‑stable cavities, optical frequency combs, atomic and optical laser stabilization, analog and digital electronics, advanced programming (Python, C/C++) and signal processing, high proficiency in engineering design (SolidWorks) and simulation (ANSYS).
  • Excellent cross‑disciplinary communication, documentation, and time management

Qualifications:
