Job summary

U.S. Army Sustainment Command at Joint Base Lewis-McChord seeks a Munitions Inspector to conduct routine and special inspections of conventional and non-standard ammunition, ensuring quality and safety across maintenance and production stages.

You will assist QA during surveys and SOP preparation, inspect a wide range of munitions, and verify incoming materials for compliance with references and standards. A pre-employment physical, clearance eligibility, and safety certifications are required.

Qualifications

• Ability to perform the work of a Munitions Inspector without more than normal supervision.
• Ability to interpret instructions, specifications, etc. (related to mobile equipment operation).
• Dexterity and safety requirements for handling ammunition and related equipment.
• Knowledge of equipment assembly, installation, repair, etc.
• Knowledge of materials used in ammunition handling and testing.
• Technical practices (theoretical, precise, artistic).
• Use of measuring instruments in inspections.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and special inspections of conventional, improved conventional and non-standard ammunition.
• Assist QA specialist during Quantity Distance Surveys and SOP preparation and filing.
• Perform storage and special inspections to determine quality, safety, and condition of ammunition components.
• Conduct quality monitoring of maintenance operations, area inspections, and magazine storage inspections.
• Inspect various ammunition types including small arms, artillery, rockets, missiles, mines, fuses, primers, and propellants.
• Inspect incoming material from other installations and vendors for damage, safety, and compliance.
• Perform verification inspections with ammunition maintenance or modification operations.
