Job summary

Pilgrim’s is seeking an Ammonia Refrigeration Technician to maintain ammonia refrigeration systems and related utilities, ensuring safe operation of plant equipment including boilers, air compressors, and HVAC. The role emphasizes safety, documentation, and proactive maintenance in a fast-paced environment.

Ideal candidates have 1+ year of ammonia refrigeration experience, strong troubleshooting skills, and the willingness to obtain Hazmat certification. Weekend/extra shift work may be required.

Qualifications

• Must have 1+ year of verifiable ammonia refrigeration experience.
• RETA Certification or equivalent technical training is a plus.
• Strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills.
• Able to read mechanical and electrical schematics and blueprints for plant ammonia systems.
• Willing to acquire Hazmat Responder Certification and be part of Hazmat Team.

Responsibilities

• Maintain refrigeration equipment and plant utilities (boilers, air compressors, pumps, motors, valves).
• Document repairs and daily activities for PMs and PSM paperwork.
• Perform PMs on compressors, boilers, HVAC components.
• Communicate with maintenance management about production needs.
• Maintain a neat, orderly work area and follow safety guidelines.
