Job summary

CJ Schwan’s is seeking a Refrigeration Maintenance Technician to perform daily inspections and repairs on ammonia refrigeration systems in a food manufacturing setting. You will work a night schedule, install and calibrate equipment, and maintain records while adhering to strict safety standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; a two-year degree in a maintenance trade is preferred.
• 2+ years of refrigeration maintenance experience, including boilers and ammonia compressors.
• Ability to use APR, SCBA, and obtain Hazmat certification.
• Advanced electrical and mechanical maintenance skills; boiler and forklift licenses are a plus (CARO a plus).
• Physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs and adheres to safety policies.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily inspections and maintenance on ammonia refrigeration systems and related equipment.
• Execute repairs and overhauls; service ammonia systems, replace valves/pumps, calibrate sensors.
• Install and maintain motors, pumps, switches, and safety controls; manage inventory and records.
• Assist with setup, teardown, fabrication, and installation of plant equipment; support major projects.
• Follow all safety protocols including LOTO, confined space, respiratory protection, and Hazmat training.
