Job summary

Smithfield Foods is seeking a Refrigeration/Boiler Technician to join our maintenance team in a full‑time hourly role. You will work across shifts, conduct equipment repairs, and perform routine inspections while upholding safety and quality standards.

The role requires RETA certification and strong knowledge of ammonia refrigeration, engine/boiler systems, and controls. Relocation assistance and growth opportunities are available.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and 1+ years of related experience in industrial mechanical maintenance or food manufacturing.
• Experience in three or more areas: RETA, Ammonia Refrigeration, Engine & Boiler systems, Electrical & motor controls, Controls & instrumentation, PLC/software & hardware, Pneumatics & Hydraulics.
• Preference for certification or degree in mechanical/electrical/industrial maintenance or related coursework.

Responsibilities

• Perform duties of Refrigeration/Boiler Technician and assist maintenance personnel on shift.
• Plan and conduct equipment repairs with safety as a priority.
• Conduct routine audits and inspections and respond to unplanned work requests.
