We're seeking an AMI/Metering Engineer to support advanced metering infrastructure deployments and upgrades for utility clients. This role covers the full metering data pipeline — from field devices through head-end systems to meter data management — as utilities refresh aging AMI fleets and expand smart-grid capability.
Support design, configuration, and troubleshooting of AMI head-end systems (Itron, Landis+Gyr, Sensus, Aclara, or similar) and meter data management systems (MDM). Coordinate meter deployment, provisioning, and firmware management activities. Analyze meter data quality, communication network performance, and outage/restoration signals from AMI. Support integration between AMI, billing, OMS, and customer information systems. Participate in AMI 2.0 refresh planning and legacy meter decommissioning. Document system configurations and support field operations teams with technical issues.
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent experience. 3+ years of experience with AMI systems in a utility environment. Familiarity with metering communication networks (RF mesh, cellular, PLC). Understanding of MDM systems and metering data standards. Strong troubleshooting and documentation skills.
Experience with a specific AMI head-end platform. Knowledge of NERC CIP requirements as applied to metering infrastructure. Familiarity with billing and CIS integration. Utility or consulting industry background.
