Job summary

Tolowa Dee-ni' Nation is seeking a Surveillance Operator to protect guests, patrons, and employees at Lucky 7 Casino Enterprises’ properties. You will monitor, log activities, and prepare incident reports for the Tribal Gaming Commission Director.

Responsibilities include operating surveillance equipment, maintaining room cleanliness, and coordinating with law enforcement as needed. A valid driver’s license and pre-employment checks are required, with preference for knowledge of Tolowa culture.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED) is required with 2 years job specified experience; education and experience will be measured.
• Must be proficient using the computer and able to use Outlook, Word, and Excel.
• Possess a valid driver’s license to drive agency vehicle(s).
• Must submit to and pass pre-employment drug and alcohol screen and extensive criminal background investigation.
• Comprehensive knowledge of the history, culture and organization history of the Tolowa Dee-ni' Nation and the Tolowa people is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Daily observance of all aspects of the Casino and adjoining properties.
• Maintain familiarity with Casino internal controls, department policies/procedures and operation of surveillance equipment.
• Daily reporting will include logging all reportable activities in the Casino as they occur and the creation of incident reports; the Surveillance Manager shall be notified immediately in any event involving a monetary loss to the Casino.
• Gain and maintain a working knowledge of the various departments within the Casino through viewing activities on video monitors.
• Camera views and DVR recordings will be checked periodically during the shift to ensure proper functioning and clarity.
• Maintain cleanliness of the surveillance room and equipment.
• Work with outside Law Enforcement agencies.
• Maintain confidentiality with observations in the surveillance room.
• Other duties as assigned.

Position Summary

Reporting directly to the Surveillance Manager, the Surveillance Operator is responsible to protect the physical safety and well-being of guests, patrons, and employees of the Lucky 7 Casino Enterprises’ properties. The Surveillance Operator will protect the assets of the Tolowa Dee-ni'Nation and Lucky 7 Casino Enterprises’ properties against any form of theft, fraud, or misappropriation and will provide appropriate documentation video and reports to the Tribal Gaming Commission Director. Assist in ensuring compliance with all internal controls and procedures established by Lucky 7 Casino Enterprises’ management and approved by the Tribal Gaming Commission by closely monitoring all operations as they occur.

Minimum Qualifications

• Combination of education and work experience will be considered.
• High school diploma or equivalent (GED) is required with 2 years job specified experience; education and experience, will be measured.
• Must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
• Must be proficient using the computer and able to use Outlook, Word, and Excel.
• Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
• Previous surveillance work experience or a year of casino work experience preferred.
• Possess a valid driver’s license to drive agency vehicle(s).
• Must submit to and pass the pre-employment drug and alcohol screen and extensive criminal background investigation.
• Comprehensive knowledge of the history, culture and organization history of the Tolowa Dee-ni' Nation and the Tolowa people is preferred.
• Qualified American Indian Preference applies.

Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical manuals and government regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions, while facilitating group meetings.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money, weight measurement, volume, and distance.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Must possess and maintain a valid, state-issued driver’s license, submit a Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) driving history, and be eligible for Tribal vehicle insurance.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to sit, use hands and fingers, handle and feel. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, and ascend and descend steps. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 30 pounds and occasionally lift and/move 50 pounds.

Position may require occasional overnight travel. Requires the ability to drive 7 hours within a 24 hour period.

• Close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less).
• Distance vision (clear vision at 20 feet or more).
• Color vision (ability to identify and distinguish color).

Work Environment

The work environment temperature can fluctuate between 50-80 degrees Fahrenheit due to open doors and windows. The job could require inside and outside activities. There are many distractions and the noise level can elevate.

Additional Employment Conditions

All Tolowa Dee-ni' Nation employees must submit to a background check and abide by all Tribal, federal, and state laws. All employees must comply with Tolowa Dee-ni' Nation drug free workplace policy and will be subject to pre-employment, for-cause, and post-accident drug and alcohol testing.

Section 408 of the Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Prevention Act of 1990 (Public Law 101-630) requires an investigation of the character of each individual who is employed, or is being considered for employment, in a position with duties and responsibilities that involve regular contact with or control over Indian children.
