Job summary

Conservation Legacy is seeking a Mountain Crews AmeriCorps member based out of Old Fort, NC to support State Parks projects in danger and storm-impacted trails. You will work as part of a small crew on rugged terrain, contributing to opening trails, building structures, and maintaining routes in the mountains region.

The role is entry-level, with guidance from crew leaders and program staff, emphasizing safety, teamwork, and community engagement.

Qualifications

• Must be US citizen, US national, or permanent resident.
• At least 17 years old and able to obtain a background check.
• Commitment to the AmeriCorps program and mission.
• Ability to manage a 40-hour work week in a physically demanding outdoor setting.
• Willingness to learn and adapt in a dynamic field environment.
• Must be physically fit for long days in varied conditions.

Responsibilities

• Reopening blocked trail corridors and restoring public access.
• Trail construction and maintenance (tread work, drainage features, steps, retaining walls).
• Rock and rough timber construction.
