Job summary

ASU Lodestar Center for Philanthropy and Nonprofit Innovation seeks a Training & Program Coordinator to support the Experience Matters AmeriCorps Program Director. You will help develop and facilitate training, transform member testimonials into social content, and strengthen capacity to train AmeriCorps Members and partners.

You will lead trainings, coordinate events, collaborate with the Marketing team, and track program documentation under supervision.

Qualifications

• Minimum qualifications, training, skills and/or experience as described for Lead Academic Advisor.
• Preference for an AmeriCorps Alumni.
• Good leadership, public speaking, writing/editing and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Develop and facilitate training; support in-person and virtual events.
• Lead training alongside Program Director for AmeriCorps Members.
• Help build capacity to train members and partners.
• Plan events such as Days of Service and celebrations; bolster retention.
• Support social media projects by coordinating with Marketing and using testimonials.
• Act as Team Leader; manage documentation and communications with members.

Job description

The Experience Matters AmeriCorps Program seeks to decrease reading difficulties and increase the joy of reading to K-8 students attending Title I schools in an Out-of-School Time (OST) program setting. The program was founded on evidence-based research and aims to provide caring, trained support to students experiencing the negative impacts of pandemic learning loss.

A skilled and organized individual will be responsible for maintaining programmatic support to the Experience Matters AmeriCorps Program Director. In this role, they will aid in the development and facilitation of additional training and continuous learning events for AmeriCorps members, transform member testimonials into social media posts and inspiring stories, and help fortify the program's ability to continue meeting its goals and serving its constituents through capacity-building initiatives.

Description of Duties:

• Attend and support all training development & facilitation: In-person events, Virtual events, Orientation(s)
• Facilitate and/or lead supplemental training alongside the Experience Matters Program Director for AmeriCorps Members in the Program
• Aid in the development of supplemental training facilitated by the Experience Matters Program, to further build the capacity of the program to train AmeriCorps Members and partners effectively.
• Aid in the development of additional event-hosting facilitated by the Experience Matters Program, such as Days of Service, Member Get-Togethers, and Celebrations, which will further build the Experience Matters’ hosting capacity leading to increased member retention.
• Support Experience Matters social media projects by working with the ASU Lodestar Marketing team. These projects will highlight our program’s impact in the community and tell the various stories of our Academic Mentors, ultimately allowing the program to share our impact on an even wider spectrum.In this, the member would perform analysis of feedback and utilize member testimonials to support our social media efforts.
• Act as a Team Leader; Communication & connecting with members and building camaraderie, facilitating icebreakers and leadership exercises. The Team Leader will aid in tracking documentation for review and follow-up by the Program Director.
• Living Allowance/Stipend: $10,800.00
• Education Award (upon successful completion of service): $3,697.50

Hiring Process:

*The Training & Program Coordinator will not be responsible for supervising Academic Mentors.

**The Training & Program Coordinator will have minimal access to vulnerable populations during their daily duties, and will always be under supervision by Program Staff or Site Supervisors when they do engage with vulnerable populations.

***This position will be filled by an individual whose expertise matches the highly specified, essential job functions, to guarantee satisfactory performance of the tasks required by the position.

To successfully complete the service assignments of a Lead Academic Advisor, certain minimum qualifications must be met. Minimum qualifications, training, skills and/or experience required for the position of Lead Academic Advisor are as follows:

• Preference for an AmeriCorps Alumni
• Leadership, Public Speaking, Writing/Editing, Team Work, Training/Facilitation, Event Planning

Knowledge needed:

• Literacy
• Phonics and The Science of Reading (which includes the 5 Pillars of Reading Instruction: Phonemic Awareness, Phonics, Fluency, Vocabulary and Comprehension)

Skills needed:

• Program/Training Development
• Proficiency in digital communication technologies (i.e., E-mail, Zoom, Google Suite, Canva, etc.)
• Proficiency in Google & Microsoft applications

Abilities needed:

• Independent worker, Organized, Communicative, Technologically savvy
