Job summary

Vista College Prep invites applications for the AmeriCorps Academic Fellow program at our Phoenix-area campuses. Fellows provide tutoring and interventions to help students excel in reading and math, while supporting campus culture and teacher capacity.

Successful candidates will complete the Vista College Prep Academic Fellow training and participate in a meaningful service experience with strong emphasis on diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED, or proof of working toward
• Completion of AmeriCorps eligibility documentation
• National Service Criminal History Check requirement
• IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card required

Responsibilities

• Tutoring small groups of students as assigned on academic content, primarily reading and math
• Running and/or supporting academic and behavioral interventions
• Supporting academic and operational needs to increase teacher capacity and improve teacher retention
• Participating in AmeriCorps teacher pipeline experiences, including substitute teaching under supervision
• Supporting systems serving English Learners
• Supporting school-wide systems execution (arrival, recess, lunch, dismissal)
• Assisting with school-wide events preparation and execution
