Job summary

The Stepping Stones Group is seeking an American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreter to join our full-time school-based team in Augusta, GA. This role supports students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing by facilitating effective communication and equal access to education.

You will work with students, teachers, administrators, and support staff to ensure meaningful participation in classroom instruction and school activities, contributing to accessibility and student success.

Qualifications

• Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) and English.
• GaPSC certification, RID or NAD certifications, 3.5 EIPA score.
• Previous experience interpreting in educational settings preferred.
• Experience working with children and adolescents preferred.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional standards.

Responsibilities

• Provide sign language interpretation for students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing during classroom instruction and school activities.
• Facilitate communication between students, teachers, staff, peers, and families as appropriate.
• Interpret lectures, discussions, assemblies, meetings, and extracurricular activities.
• Support students' access to academic content while promoting independence and self-advocacy.
• Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, and related service providers.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation as required.
• Adhere to professional ethics, confidentiality standards, and district policies.
• Participate in team meetings and professional development opportunities as needed.
