TheraPeds is seeking a full-time, on-site American Sign Language Interpreter for a Centralia, WA school. You will deliver classroom ASL interpretation and work with a multidisciplinary team to support a student in a 32.5 hour weekly schedule.
The role requires fluency in ASL and English, RID certification or equivalent, and an ITP/ASL-English interpreting degree. Strong organizational skills and a commitment to student success are essential.

This is a full-time, on-site role as a American Sign Language Interpreter (ASL) serving a school located in Centralia, WA.
The American Sign Language Interpreter (ASL) will be responsible for providing ASL services to students in the classroom setting and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams. The role requires strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as a passion for working with students with special needs.
Full-time, 32.5 hours/week
2026-2027 School Year (September-June)
On-site, in-person
Hours: 7:30am-2:30pm Monday-Thursday. 7:30am-1:30pm Friday
One high school student

$45– $60/hour
American Sign Language Interpretation Certification
Passing written test
Documentation submitted to CDE
Fluency in ASL and English
Schools expect strong receptive and expressive ASL skills and the ability to interpret classroom instruction and student interactions accurately.
RID certification (Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf)
Associate or bachelor’s degree, preferred
Interpreter Training Program (ITP) or ASL-English interpreting degree
Experience interpreting in K-12 classrooms
Knowledge of IDEA and IEP processes
Background check and fingerprinting
Ability to support students throughout the school day
Organizational and time management skills
Demonstrated ability to exercise a high level of tact and discretion in both internal and external communications
Working and playing with students requires that employees must be able to perform the necessary physical movement functions, as needed, such as lifting, sitting, walking, standing, crawling, and engaging with students in all physical locations and activities, while adhering to the duties outlined by the district.
