Job summary

Responsibilities

• Schedule all outpatient surgeries and procedures as requested by the physician or the physician’s office staff.
• Obtain and add patient demographics and insurance information into the billing system.
• Contact payers to verify patient benefits and obtain necessary authorization.
• Coordinate efforts with the Director of Nursing to ensure availability of needed equipment, requested staff, and/or ancillary services.
• Prepare and distribute the daily surgery schedule to Nursing Managers, RNs, Pre-Op and PACU staff.
• Capture complete clinical, demographic and insurance information on scheduled patients.
• Communicate scheduling updates to the Director of Nursing.
• Communicate potential scheduling conflicts to the Director of Nursing.
• NotifyBusiness Office Manager of patient issues; maintain positive staff communications.
• Track cancellations and monitor block time.
• Prepare daily bank deposits for monies received.
• Cross-train to cover front desk and other duties; participate in medical records and accounts.
• Perform other clerical duties as directed.
