Job summary

St. Davids Surgical Hospital, part of St. David's North Austin Medical Center, is seeking a Registered Nurse for Ambulatory Services.

You will influence patient care through collaboration with managers and nursing initiatives, shaping decisions to improve outcomes and the future of nursing. You will evaluate patients pre- and post-operatively, educate families, manage IV therapy and meds, and participate in universal protocols. On-call may be required; 1 year experience preferred.

Qualifications

• RN license required.
• BLS must be obtained within 30 days of start date.
• Degrees accepted: Associate/Bachelor/Master in nursing or RN Diploma.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients prior to surgery.
• Provide patient and family education surrounding the procedure and peri-operative process.
• Prepare patient including intravenous therapy, preoperative medications, and surgical site verification.
• Participate in surgical site verification per hospital policy.
• Recognize and respond to patient emergencies.
• Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care and contribute to evidence-based practice and continuous improvement.
• Be an integral member of a dynamic interdisciplinary team.
• Apply nursing process, critical thinking, and leadership to deliver safe nursing care.
• Assess patient condition, monitor, and document changes.
• Educate patients and families about condition, treatment, and follow-up.
