Job summary

NYU Langone Hospital—Long Island in Manhasset is seeking an Ambulatory Surgery Patient Support Assistant to join our preop/PACU team. The role provides direct and indirect patient care under supervision of a Registered Nurse, supporting clinical, procedural, and unit operations in the ASC setting.

Responsibilities include assisting with ADLs, vital signs, admissions/transfers/discharges, room and supply readiness, sterile technique, infection prevention, and effective communication with patients

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Graduate of Certified Nursing Attendant Program and CNA certification.
• At least 6 months relevant experience.
• BLS/Heartsaver CPR/AED certification required on entry.
• Strong customer service and communication skills; English proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Assist with activities of daily living and mobility support.
• Monitor vital signs and report abnormalities to RN.
• Assist admissions, transfers, and discharges, including patient prep.
• Prepare rooms and supplies; support surgical teams.
• Maintain infection control and safety; respond to alarms.
• Communicate with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
