Job summary

bizjobz LLC is seeking a Director of Nursing for a Gaithersburg ambulatory surgery center focused on orthopedic surgery and pain management. The DON will lead pre-op, OR, and PACU clinical operations, ensuring patient-centered care and regulatory compliance.

The role collaborates with the Administrator, physicians, and interdisciplinary teams to drive safety, accreditation readiness, and staff competency while optimizing patient throughput and operational efficiency.

Qualifications

• Current, unrestricted RN license in Maryland or compact state.
• BSN degree required; master's preferred.
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications.
• 3–5 years of nursing leadership experience.
• Comprehensive knowledge of perioperative nursing, infection control, regulatory compliance.
• Working knowledge of EMR, practice management software, medical billing and payer rules.
• Strong leadership with a focus on staff development and cross-functional collaboration.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Lead clinical functions across pre-op, OR, and PACU.
• Maintain high standards of patient care grounded in evidence-based nursing.
• Monitor workflows to optimize throughput, quality, and safety.
• Collaborate with surgeons and anesthesia providers for continuity of care.
• Serve as senior leader on complex issues and advise patients on options and billing.
• Address concerns related to clinical care or staff performance.
• Ensure proper use and maintenance of clinical supplies and equipment.
• Lead Infection Control and QAPI programs; ensure policy adherence.
• Prepare for audits and accreditation surveys; implement corrective actions.
• Oversee documentation in EHR/EMR and participate in chart reviews.
• Participate in budget planning and strategic clinical operations.
