Job summary

UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, TX, seeks a licensed RN to provide nursing care under supervision for patient treatment and care plans. You will coordinate appointments, support physician instructions, educate patients, and document responses in the medical record.

The role emphasizes safety, teamwork, and adherence to clinical protocols. The ideal candidate holds ADN (with preferred BSN) and current Texas RN licensure, plus BLS certification.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an approved/accredited nursing program with an Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
• Experience: Specialty areas may have increased experience requirements as dictated by clinic or standard of care.
• Licenses and Certifications: RN license by Board of Nurse Examiners for State of Texas; BLS per AHA/ARC on hire.

Responsibilities

• Delivers nursing interventions to assigned patients that are consistent with the medical plan of care and documents responses.
• Schedules patients' appointments, tests, and procedures, reinforcing physician instructions.
• Provides patient education and records patient responses in the medical record.
• Ensures appropriate patient consents and authorizations for research and/or treatment.
• Triages patient phone inquiries per protocols and records actions in the medical record.
• Supervises and delegates tasks to licensed vocational nurses and support staff.
• Proficiency in electronic medical record documentation.
• Participates in policy/procedural changes based on nursing expertise.
• Prepares equipment and assists physicians during exams and procedures.
• Prepares and administers medications as prescribed.
• Inspects equipment and facilities for patient safety and functioning.
• Maintains adequate stock of supplies for the work area.
• Attends and participates in clinical meetings.
• Duties may include core functions involving direct patient care or related activities.
