Job summary

Northwestern Medicine Catherine Gratz Griffin Lake Forest Hospital in Grayslake is seeking a Radiographer Ambulatory for a casual (non-benefited) position at the Grayslake Outpatient Center. The role does not have a set schedule and includes on-call rotation and holiday coverage.

You will produce diagnostic-quality images, ensure patient safety, administer contrast when needed, operate imaging equipment, maintain records, and support department initiatives while upholding quality and safety

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Radiology Technologist Program.
• ARRT Radiography (R) certification.
• IEMA Accreditation.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Responsibilities

• Maintains accountability for patient safety throughout the imaging process, including screening, preparation, monitoring, and post-procedure care.
• Produces diagnostic-quality images using approved protocols and professional standards.
• Apply professional judgment within approved protocols to optimize image quality and address imaging challenges.
• Reviews images prior to exam completion and initiates corrective action when diagnostic adequacy is not met.
• Administers contrast in accordance with policy, including screening for contraindications and patient monitoring (as applicable).
• Operates imaging equipment and maintains imaging room readiness.
• Identifies equipment performance issues and initiates follow-up through established service processes.
• Coordinates exam flow and prioritizes time-sensitive studies.
• Maintains accurate and timely documentation in medical record and image archive system, including exam set-up, image routing, result availability and charging accuracy.
• Adheres to organizational values, ethical standards, and compliance requirements.
• Consistently upholds all applicable quality and safety standards within diagnostic imaging, such as radiation safety, MRI safety, Infection prevention measures safe practices (as applicable to the role) to protect self, patients, visitors and team members.
• Ensures a positive patient experience throughout care delivery.
• Supports department initiatives to improve relationships, reliability, efficiency, growth.
• Supports additional responsibilities aligned with patient care and department needs.
• Performs general and / or fluoroscopic radiography in the outpatient setting.
