Job summary

Essentia Health Ely Pharmacy is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to assist pharmacists with prescription processing, unit dose prep, and non-sterile compounding. Responsibilities include inventory control, cash handling, and patient service in person or by phone.

Positions require Minnesota Board of Pharmacy registration and/or Pharmacy Intern status, and completion of Essentia Health's technician training programs. Several ambulatory care levels are described with progressive qualifications.

Qualifications

• Pharmacy technician Ambulatory Care level training and registration requirements.
• Multiple pathways to qualify including board-approved programs or Essentia Health training.
• CPhT certification within 2 years or enrollment in Pharm.D. program.

Responsibilities

• Process prescriptions accurately in computer system and prepare unit dose medications.
• Handle non-sterile bulk compounding and inventory control; manage supplies and equipment.
• Provide customer service in person and by phone; assist pharmacist with daily department tasks and training.

Pharmacy technician Ambulatory Care Level I

Board-approved technician training program

Essentia Health employer-based technician training program

Minnesota Board of Pharmacy registration

High school diploma or GED

Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification within 2 years

Pharmacy student in accredited Pharm.D. program
