Job summary

Ambulatory Pharmacist – UVA Health Specialty Pharmacy is a pharmacy professional role within an integrated academic health system. The position blends clinical pharmacy knowledge with operational excellence in a centralized, highly automated specialty pharmacy setting.

You will help ensure medication safety and drive workflow improvements while collaborating with a dedicated team of pharmacists, technicians, and specialists.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor's in Pharmacy or Pharm.D. from an ACPE accredited College of Pharmacy.
• Experience: No experience required. PGY-1 residency or equivalent clinical experience preferred.
• Licensure: Virginia State Board of Pharmacy License or within 60 days of hire. AHA Health Care Provider BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Perform medication verification and clinical review, ensuring safe and appropriate therapy.
• Support a centralized, technology-driven dispensing model with advanced automation.
• Collaborate with pharmacists, technicians, and specialists in a highly coordinated team setting.
• Contribute to workflow optimization and operational improvements across the specialty pharmacy.
• Utilize EHR access and patient data to inform clinical decisions.
• Maintain a steady, predictable workflow focused on accuracy and consistency.
