Description

The outpatient cardiology dietitian position at Riley Children’s Hospital provides specialized nutrition therapy to a diverse patient population, including infants, children, adolescents, young adults, and adults with congenital heart disease. The role involves utilizing the Nutrition Care Process in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team, which includes nutritional assessment, diagnosis, intervention, and monitoring and evaluation.

The dietitian plans, organizes, implements, and evaluates individualized nutrition education, precepts dietetic interns and students, and independently orders diets, supplements, and tube feedings as approved by the Medical Staff Office. The position primarily works with patients post-cardiac transplant, those with heart failure, and the adult congenital population, sharing infant and pediatric nutrition consults with another outpatient cardiology dietitian. This role involves working at both Riley Hospital Downtown Indianapolis and the Carmel, IN clinic locations.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in dietetics or a related field
• Effective July 1, 2019, all newly registered dietitians or dietitians practicing in Indiana must hold an active Indiana license
• All current registered dietitians must maintain Indiana certification until the next renewal period
• Effective January 1, 2021, all dietitians must hold an active Indiana license
• Registration-eligible hires are required to obtain their RD and LD within 6 months of hire
• Ability to develop medical care plans
