Job Title: Ambulatory Nurse II

Department: PMC Infectious Disease Maps

Location: Penn Presbyterian Medical Center - 51 N 39th St

Entity: CPUP

Hours: Mon-Fri office hours as per department needs

Summary:

  • The Ambulatory Nurse II is a registered nurse practicing as a full partner on the healthcare team, demonstrating safe practice within the organizational professional practice model. The role requires knowledge, skills, and attitude to meet standards for competent nursing practice as outlined in the position description addendum. The nurse exhibits UPHS organizational behavioral competencies aligned with its mission and professional practice domains. The nurse independently provides patient care through the application of the nursing process, accepting accountability for the care of patients across all ages, from infancy to the elderly. The role emphasizes competencies in CQI, Evidence-Based Practice, Leadership, Person and Family Centered Care, Professionalism, Safety, Technology/Informatics, and Teamwork, working closely with the interprofessional team to coordinate care across the continuum, providing individualized care considering physical, psychosocial, cultural, educational, safety, and age-related factors.

Responsibilities:

  • Evidence-Based Practice and Research: Evaluate and incorporate current evidence with clinical expertise and patient/family preferences for optimal healthcare delivery and system effectiveness.
  • Safety: Minimize risks of harm through system effectiveness and individual performance.
  • Professionalism: Commit to lifelong learning, adhere to ANA’s Code of Ethics, participate in professional organizations, and engage in community outreach.
  • Person and Family Centered Care: Recognize patients and their designees as full partners, providing compassionate, respectful, and coordinated care based on their preferences and needs.
  • Leadership: Collaborate effectively, applying innovative and systems thinking for evidence-based problem solving and decision-making to support Penn Medicine’s vision.
  • Informatics/Technology: Use appropriate information and technology tools to communicate, manage knowledge, reduce errors, and support decision-making.
  • Teamwork: Engage in cooperation, coordination, and collaboration within inter- and intra-professional teams, including virtual teams, to ensure safe, quality patient outcomes.
  • Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI): Use data and QI methods to identify issues and opportunities for providing safe, timely, efficient, effective, and equitable care.
