Summary
- The Ambulatory Nurse II Colleague is an RN practicing as a full partner on the healthcare team, demonstrating safe practice within the organizational professional practice model.
- The Ambulatory Nurse II possesses the knowledge, skills, and attitude to meet standards for competent professional nursing practice as specified in the position description addendum. Exhibits UPHS behavioral competencies aligned with its mission.
- The nurse independently provides patient care through the nursing process, accepting accountability for the care of assigned patients, ranging from infants to the elderly. Demonstrates competencies in CQI, Evidence-Based Practice, Leadership, Person and Family Centered Care, Professionalism, Safety, Technology/Informatics, and Teamwork.
- Works closely with the interprofessional team to coordinate care across the continuum, focusing on individualized, culturally sensitive, age-appropriate care.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate and integrate current evidence with clinical expertise and patient preferences for optimal care and system effectiveness.
- Minimize risks through system effectiveness and individual performance.
- Demonstrate commitment to the nursing profession via lifelong learning, adherence to ANA’s Code of Ethics, participation in professional organizations, and community outreach.
- Provide patient and family-centered care respecting patient preferences, values, and needs.
- Engage in collaborative, evidence-based problem solving and decision making to promote effective care changes.
- Utilize appropriate information and technology for communication, knowledge management, error mitigation, and decision support.
- Engage in cooperation, coordination, and collaboration within teams, including virtual teams, to ensure safe, quality outcomes.
- Use data and QI methods to identify problems and opportunities for improvement, ensuring care is safe, timely, efficient, effective, and equitable.
- Perform duties aligned with Penn Medicine values, policies, and procedures, and support the unit and organization as needed.
Credentials
- RN with valid state licensure (Required)
- BLS/ACLS/PALS per specialty (Required)
- Specialty certification (Preferred)
Education or Equivalent Experience
- Diploma or ASN from an accredited nursing school with over 15 months of relevant experience (Required)
- BSN from an accredited nursing school with over 15 months of relevant experience (Preferred)
